10 Most Anticipated Tamil Films in 2020

As the new year begins, Kollywood steps into the ramp to showcase an another set of fresh, unconventional cinema that awaits in 2020. The year 2019 ended with an assured enthusiasm to Tamil Cinema with Halitha Shameem’s Sillu Karupatti. The new path, in which Kollywood has started to tread, begins to show the promise we want to see, with a bundle of the most anticipated upcoming Tamil films in 2020. We have 3 women directors with intriguing projects that are lined up for the release this year. Rohini’s Appavin Meesai, Sharadha Ramanathan’s Puthiya Thiruppangal, Sudha Kongara’s Soorarai Pottru. Films with Women in the lead characters, continue to be refreshing in this year too after Taapsee’s Game Over, Amala Paul’s Aadai in 2019. Amala Paul stars in Adho Andha Paravai Pola, Parvathy stars in Director Vasanth’s Sivaranjaniyum Innum Sila Pengalum, Kajal Agarwal stars in Queen’s remake, reprises Kangana Ranaut’s role in Paris Paris.

Amala Paul‘s next adventurous project is this action thriller after her Aadai in 2019. The first look posters of Amala performing some real stunts intrigues the plot of the film.

Alaudhinin Arputha Camera


It’s a fantasy film from Moodar Koodam (2013) fame Naren. He shares the screen with Anandhi. The film is said to be inspired from one of the episodes called “A Most Unusual Camera” from the series “The Twilight Zone”. The trailer of this film is the first ever which released with 4K HDR technology.

Appavin Meesai


Actor Rohini takes the role as the writer-director of this film which is inspired by true incidents. It’s a coming of age drama and contains Cheran, Nithya Menen, Nasseer, Pasupathy. Resul Pookutty is the sound editor of this film.

Darbar


Superstar Rajini Kanth‘s Darbar is set to be the first biggest action-packed release of 2020 for Pongal festival. A.R Murugadoss directs Rajini for the first time with obvious enthusiasm. Nayantara, Sunil Shetty and Nivetha Thomas share the screen along with Rajini.

Dhruva Natchathiram


GVM’s long awaited Dhruva Natchathiram is expected to hit the screens in 2020. Vikram‘s stylish looks and the mind bending trailer from GVM assure that the film will be satisfactorily enjoyable.

Gypsy


A road movie in Tamil cinema is an intriguing plot to dwell. Jiiva stars in this romantic road drama. Raju Murugan, the director of Cuckoo (2014), directs this film. Santhosh Narayanan’s music score for the film and the first look are promising for another unconventional, interesting story.

Indian 2


The sequel to the classic hit Indian (1996) returns with the same vigilante drama. Shankar – Kamal Hasan duo join for the project to rekindle the magic it created with the original. The original film’s music score was done by A.R Rahman which was revolutionizing for its time. The sequel has got Anirudh musical and creates an unflinching expectation.

Joshua Imai Pol Kaakha


It’s an action thriller from GVM with Darbuka Siva’s musical. After ENPT, Gautham Menon is set to launch this film this February 2020.

Kadaisi Vivasayi


Kadaisi Vivasayi is a comedy drama from the director of Kaaka Muttai (2015) M. Manikandan. Besides the reputation of the director that intrigues this new film, Vijay Sethupathy‘s part of the project too spikes up enthusiasm. The trailer of the film has been getting raving attention and it is certainly one of the most anticipated film of 2020.

Psycho


Mysskin‘s psychological thriller Psycho has all the attention it needs already. The eerie, menacing trailer, with surprisingly sweeping over Ilaiyaraja‘s musical grabs its place it deserves for this year’s release. Nithya Menen, Udhayanidhi Stalin, Aditi Rao Hydari share the screen in the film. Mysskin, the unconventional auteur in Tamil Cinema, comes back with this promising horror plot.
