ACC Women’s Emerging Teams cup final: India defeats Sri Lanka by 14 runs!

It was a thrilling contest between India and the Sri Lankan team in the final of the Asian cricket council’s Emerging teams cup final as India managed to win by only 14 runs (D/L method).

Opting to bat first, Indian top-order failed and at one stage, the visitors were 80 for 7. However, India’s Tanushree Sarkar and Simran Bahadur with their 47 and 34 took India to 175 in their 50 overs.

For Sri Lanka, Captain Madavi stood still for her 39 but she kept running out of partners, thanks to India’s Tanuja Kanwar and captain Devika Vaidya who grabbed four wickets each.

The rain played Spoilsport too by reducing the target for the team to 150 in 35 overs. While Lihini Apsara and Madushika Methtananda showed some resistance with their 20-odd runs, Sri Lanka fell 14 runs short of the target.
