Ahalyaa

Ahalya is a character from the epic “Ramayana” where she is one of the beautiful women who is married to an aged sage name Gautama Maharishi. Lord Indira has the power to convert into any man to hide his wrong doings.

He tried to seduce Ahalya but Gauthama Maharishi gets angry on Ahalya and turned her into stone.
She was then liberated by Lord Ram.

A modern version of this story was created by the director Sujoy Ghosh. He did a short film based on this story.

Radhika Apte played the role of Ahalya.
Soumitra Chatterjee as Goutham Sadhu (he played as an artist but he resembles the role of the Rishi Gauthama Maharishi)
Tota Roy Chowdhury as Indra Sen (A police Officer who played the character of Indira)

It is a 2015 short film and you can get to see in YouTube.

A policeman comes to Goutham’s house to investigate about a guy’s (Arjun) missing. He sees Goutham’s wife Ahalya and admires her. He then notices some realistic dolls on a side table which falls on the floor which was quite mysterious for all of us while watching and every frame from that scene helps us to ask many questions to our self! The entire movie travels in Bengali (Thank Sujoy for the subtitles).

When Indra Sen asks Goutham about the guy’s missing , Goutham tells about a stone which has some magical powers . Indira doesn’t trust him and Goutham asks him to take a chance.

The rest explains everything!

Totally in love with this movie!

Please do watch as it is worth watching.
