AUS vs IND: Claire Polosak becomes first female match official in men’s Test match

Australia’s Claire Polosak recently became the first female match official in a men’s Test match when she took up the fourth umpire’s role in the third Test between India and Australia on Thursday.

The 32-year-old, who is a resident of New South Wales’s Goulburn city, has already earned the distinction of being the first woman on-field umpire in a men’s ODI match in ICC’s Division 2 league between Namibia and Oman played at the Windhoek in 2019.

Meanwhile Australia opted to bat first in the first day of Sydney Test and currently they are at 27 for 1 from their 10 overs. The bad weather played its part during the match, halting the play.

Navdeep Saini was handed over his debut cap in the match and he had replaced injured Umesh Yadav. India also brought back Rohit Sharma in place of Mayank Agarwal. The former had completed his quarantine and had recovered from his hamstring injury.

For Australia, the team had dropped underperforming Joe Burns for Will Pucovski and David Warner replaced Travis Head.
