Rahul Dravid is replaced by former Saurashtra captain Sitanshu Kotak and ex-India seamer Paras Mhambrey as the head coaches for the India A, Under-19 team.
According to BCCI official, there is no press release on the same as this is “internal juggling” between the NCA staffs.
Dravid was recently appointed as the National Cricket Academy’s head of cricket operations and will be preparing the roadmap for India ‘A’ and U-19 teams along with up-gradation plan for the existing coaching module.
While Dravid’s job requires him to stay here at the NCA, he is free to travel with the team whenever he feels it is necessary.
Mhambrey who was the bowling coach of the Under-19 team for three years and supported Dravid, will be promoted to the head coach position after Dravid’s appointed with NCA.
Mhambrey’s position will be taken up by former Indian Women’s team coach Ramesh Powar.
While Kotak and Powar’s appointments are for the short-term – the series against South Africa ‘A’ – Mhambrey and Abhay Sharma will continue as Dravid’s permanent support staff at NCA as well as the coaches of the U-19 team for Asia Cup. Hrishikesh Kanitkar will continue as the batting coach for the team.
T Dilip who was shortlisted for the Indian men’s senior team for the position of fielding coach, will take care of the fielding for the young guns.
