England and India fought their heart out at Hove on Sunday to produce one of the thrillers we have witnessed in recent times.
India began the match very well, thanks to Shafali Verma who took on literally every single bowler in the team. This time, Brunt was at the receiving side as the battle between these two players is still on.
Shafali Verma scored 48 from 38 deliveries with eight fours to her name, and she gave the start India had always wanted. Mandhana, who played the anchor role, scored 20 runs. After their dismissal, Harmanpreet Kaur showed a glimpse of form, scored 31.
The middle-order once again struggled as India got only 148 runs, probably, 10 to 20 runs lesser than what they would have expected. Among the England bowlers, Sciver, Glenn and Villiers picked up a wicket each.
In return, England had lost Danni Wyatt early followed by Sciver. However, Beaumont and Knight almost took the game away from the visitors. Beaumont scored yet another fifty while Knight had 30.
In the middle overs, India bounced back with brilliance in the field. There was a lucky run-out of England skipper that changed the momentum of the game as the hosts began to feel the pressure, losing wickets in quick succession.
There were four run-outs in the England line-up today and a couple of wickets went to Poonam Yadav while Deepti Sharma had one.
In the final over, England needed 14 runs, and they had lost the game by eight runs. The series is currently alive with both teams winning a match each.
