Hayden, Philander appointed as Pakistan coach for T20 World Cup

Pakistan Cricket Board has appointed Mathew Hayden and Vernon Philander as batting and bowling coaches for the Pakistan campaign for the upcoming World Cup T20.

In his first press conference, the new chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Ramiz Raja announced the same. He took up the post on Monday.

Hayden and Philander will replace Misbah Ul Haq and Waqar Younis.

“There need to be better coaching academies, better coaches, better pitches,” Raja said.

Talking about the India clash in the first match of the tournament, he said that the team is keen to turn the tables around this time.

He added that he became the head of the board to bring in positive changes for the team.

The ICC Cricket World Cup starts on 17 October 2021 and India and Pakistan play each other on 24 October 2021.
