On Sunday, India overcame the West Indies challenge and kept their direct qualification for the World Cup alive as they went on to beat the hosts by 53 runs.
Batting first, India lost both the openers early and it was Mithali Raj and Poonam Raut once again who had to rescue the team. Mithali’s classic 40 along with Poonam’s 77 made it easy for Harmanpreet Kaur to score 46 to take India to 191 in 50 overs.
Chasing the total, West Indies lost Stacy-Ann King early, thanks to the beauty from Shikha Pandey. West Indies then was pushed backwards by the injury of Natasha McLean who had to retire as she picked up an injury while running.
Campbelle and Taylor provided the resistance but the spinners of the Indian team had the best day with all the three mainstream spinners picking up two wickets each.
A good bowling display helped India to go past the hosts by 53 runs.
