The Indian dance crew, ‘The Kings United’ wins the US Reality Show ‘World of Dance’ and bags 1 Million dollars prize money.
The Indian 14-member crew impressed judges including Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo and Derek Hough with their amazing performances and it wasn’t a surprise as for the past three months they have been topping the scores and has won the first place now.
The Kings that specialises in Bolly-hip-hop style started out from the streets of Mumbai in 2008 but shot to limelight after winning India’s Got Talent Season 3. They secured the third place in World Hip-Hop Dance Championship 2015.

10 years of struggle, hard work, pain, sleepless nights, fear, sacrifices has been paid off finally! Yesterday’s hard work resulted in today’s victory!!!! With no time in hand, we had to make decision whether to participate or not and with just 10 days before the travel date, we cleared our travel documents and proceeded with our participation in WOD3 . Who knew that a group from India would reach the finals and emerge with the title of WORLD CHAMPIONS. But, we did it and converted our dream into reality with hard work and determination. It seems so surreal for us today and we are still unable to convince ourself that yes , We made it. We are so overwhelmed with the response We received through out the show . This makes us work even more harder for our future dreams. This might probably be their last dancing competition according to their choreographer Suresh Mukund.
“The Kings will no longer compete at dance competitions now. We have already achieved the world’s best dance group title. My team is pretty settled right now and is doing shows worldwide,” added Mukund.
The crew, consisting of Ritesh Vishwakarma, Karthik Priyadarshan, Shijin Ramesh, Chandan Acharya, Sunny Chatterjee, Mohan Pandey, Charles Edward, Pratik Gojare, Prem Bhawar, Pavan Rao, Raja Das, Hardik Rawat, Akshay Varavdekar, Hritik Gupta and Naidu Vishwakarma, has taken home a cash prize of $1 million. The dancers from Vasai Nalasopara will soon go on a world tour.
Talking about the group’s last performance at the competition, Mukund told IANS in a telephonic interview: “We did a Baahubali act in India two years ago that went viral, so I knew the concept of cinematic feel and slow motion will work for sure.
“I kept that for the final round. Coincidently, they asked us to do a performance with a cinematic theme in the final round. I knew they wouldn’t understand it (Baahubali) as it’s not a Hollywood movie. Then I planned to do it in Spartan style.”
The show’s judge Ne-Yo called it the “greatest action film” he has ever seen, while Derek Hough thought they “altered reality”. Jennifer Lopez was happy to be surprised by their act.
