IPL Preview | Sunrisers Hyderabad

In my opinion, cricket should be a game which is balanced between the bat and the ball. Unfortunately, with the conditions and the short ground, the game is dominated majorly by the batsmen. Only in a few matches, the bowlers shine. Now, that’s what makes Sunrisers a special team. In the last year of the IPL, their bowlers stood out. There isn’t a reason why they will not this year as well.
Once again, the team will be dominated by a good number of bowlers and with the inclusion of a few good hitters to the team, Sunrisers really does look better than it was in the previous edition.
Strengths:

1. Sunrisers has a few players who badly want to perform in order to stay in the international team. David Warner, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Vijay Shankar. Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been included in the list because of some great performances from Shami has pushed him down a bit.
2. The young kid Rashid Khan is definitely the star where ever he goes and he can pull the match from anywhere in the favour of the team. Sunrisers will depend on him for wickets with Kaul and Al Hasan backing him.
3. With the inclusion of Jonny Bairstow, the team now has a powerful opener along with David Warner.
4. The veteran Yusuf Pathan will once again be the key in the middle order along with Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda. Abhishek Sharma produced powerful knocks last year for Delhi, he will have to do that here as well.
5. Of course, the captain Kane. He was clinical in setting up wins for Sunrisers last year. He will be doing it this time as well.

Weaknesses:

1. Since the team has a foreign captain, they will have to utilize maximum with the other three players available.
2. If Bairstow is playing, will Kane take a decision of leaving Guptill out of the playing XI? If yes, who will he drop? Warner? Rashid Khan? Shakib Al Hasan?
3. Though the team looks great on papers, their middle-order failed last year. Can they find someone who can take the innings till the end and score quickly? Vijay Shankar who smacked 66 off 34 deliveries in the practice match should be that player.
4. Bhuvneshwar Kumar isn’t doing great in the limited overs recently. Well, not up to his standards. Can he change it all?
