Kaneria confirms about mistreatment; says will reveal names

Danish Kaneria who was only the second Hindu to play for Pakistan was mistreated during his cricketing time.

Recently, Shoaib Akhtar spoke to a TV show where he revealed that Kaneria wasn’t treated right based on his religion.

This sparked controversy and Kaneria was contacted for the same.

He accepted Akhtar’s claims and said the former pacer was one of the few cricketers who supported him during the tough time. “This (Religious discrimination) happened with me. I have immense respect for Shoib Akhtar and he has said the truth. He was the one who supported me,” Kaneria told Times Now.
“Shoaib (Akhtar) bhai, Inzamam (Inzamam-ul-Haq), Younis Khan and Yousuf Youhana who later turned into Mohammad Yousuf were the only 4 players who supported me. Younis Khan was my closest friend. I will reveal the name of the players who discriminated against me soon on my YouTube channel.”

With the grace of mata rani, I was born a Hindu. I will die a Hindu,” he further added.

Kaneria represented Pakistan in 61 Tests matches and 18 ODIs. He is the fourth most wicket-taker for the country behind only Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis and Imran Khan.

Kaneria was banned for match-fixing by ECB. His appeal against the ban was rejected by the ECB in July 2013. Kaneria played his last game for Pakistan against England in August 2010.
