SL vs IND, 3rd ODI: Sri Lanka win by 3 wickets

Sri Lanka had ended the ODI series on a high note by winning the 3rd and final ODI by three wickets. India, who had already won the first two matches of the series, had decided to rest the major players for today’s game.

The team witnessed five debutants while Sri Lanka made three changes as well. India batted first for the first time in the series, and straight away they were in trouble.

The skipper Shikhar Dhawan was the first wicket to fall. However, debutant Sanju Samson and Prithvi Shaw added a good partnership to steady the ship. Both players fell a few runs short of their fifty. After their dismissal, Suryakumar Yadav had 40 runs to his name. Other than that, none of the players contributed much and India got out for 225.

Dananjaya and Jayawickrama had three wickets each and Chameera picked up a couple of wickets.

Due to the interruption of rain, Sri Lanka had to chase 227 from their 47 overs.

Avishka Fernando once again batted well for his 76, and he was accompanied by Bhanuka Rajapaksa who had 65. India then bounced back to pick up a few quick wickets to put Sri Lanka on a back foot. Unfortunately, with not many runs on the board, India couldn’t do much. Sri Lanka went on to win the match by three wickets.

For India, Rahul Chahar picked up three wickets while Chetan Sakariya had a couple to his name.
