T20WC, PAK v SA, 15th match: South Africa qualifies for Semifinal

Sometimes, the cricket game is brutal. Despite the fact that you are doing great, there is always a better team who comes good on a particular day to beat you.

Pakistan had trouble even before the match, they lost their captain Bismah Maroof who is ruled out of the tournament. Javeria Khan, taking up the captaincy, started off well. Thanks to her bowlers. The team dismissed Lee and Niekerk early. However, Kapp and Wolvaardt pulled back the team from the collision. Wolvaardt smashed a beautiful half-century, scored 53 off 36 and Kapp scored 31. With some cameos from the lower order batters, the team reached 136.

Diana Baig once again had a beautiful outing with two wickets to her name and for sure, her name will be on top when it comes to the player selection for the next year’s WBBL.

Pakistan needed Javeria Khan to play long innings and needed others to play around her. Unfortunately, the stand-in captain did not have much support and she was also dismissed after scoring 31. In the lower order, Aliya Riaz played well for her 39* and Iram Javed scored 17*. But the team ended 17 runs short and now they are virtually out of the tournament.

South Africa remains unbeaten and they become the second team to qualify for the semifinal.
