In the second match of the tournament, London Spirit won a thrilling contest against Birmingham Phoenix on Friday. The latter, despite being a few runs short, did not give up at all and came up with a brilliant fight.
Batting first, Phoenix opened with Shafali Verma and Katie Mack but the duo didn’t stand long. Dottin got rid of Mack while Davies dismissed Verma.
Arlott was the next to go and the team found themselves at 37 for 3. Eve Jones and skipper Amy Jones then added the all-important partnership of the game. The duo added 64 runs with Eve Jones adding 47.
Amy Jones, on the other hand, scored 33 from just 17 deliveries. In the end, the team ended with 128 runs.
Dottin was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets to her name.
In return, Dattani gave the team a blistering start with 19-ball 34. Knight and Sharma then took the team closer to victory. When one thought that the team was cruising, Arlott’s spell changed everything.
She had two wickets in the span of five balls and there was a run-out too. In the end, Amara Carr and Danielle Gibson took the team home safe. The latter played only two deliveries and scored a couple of boundaries which changed the course of the game.
