WHY THERE’S NO TV TELECAST FOR THE INDIAN WOMEN TOUR OF SOUTH AFRICA

Before you could argue about the telecast for the last three T20Is just like the Sony network did, I must tell you they deserve a full series cover.

When asked, Few were like, chill there will not be more fans watching this! So, no telecast. I was like WHAAAAAAAT!

Let me get this straight. We were that fans who spoke all about the women empowerment and all those stuff during the final of the women’s world cup. What happened to that now?

Few followers turned on the Television during the first ODI only to find out that the matches have no telecast. No Live streaming and also no commentary from the official Twitter handle like ICC live scores or BCCI.

When every single match of the men’s shown somewhere, somehow with multiple highlights throughout the day, An International ODI which is a part of ICC Women’s championship has no telecast. Women don’t have continuous tours and matches like the men do. Their last international match before this tour was in July 2017.

In fact, the major sites in India updated the scores wrongly at the beginning, blame the telecast. The only available update was from the Cricket South Africa Twitter Handle.

According to BCCI representatives, the onus was on Cricket South Africa to ensure live telecast of the matches. The Indian board cannot produce footage for matches played outside the county.

“BCCI does not have the rights for the matches that are played outside India,” a media representative of the Board of Control for Cricket in India told The Field.

They also said that the three double-headers Twenty20 matches – when the women’s and men’s team play one after the other at the same venue – will be shown Live on TV.
