Words can not describe how I feel right now, I am devastated and sick to my core about the sad and sudden passing of Katia. The amount we had achieved during our partnership is something I can never forget and will always hold close to my heart. This news is something you can never prepare for. Rest In Peace Katia.

According to reports, the former champion had died by suicide. She fell off the window in the sixth floor. She left behind a note that said “I love” in Russian.

Alexandrovskaya’s coach, Andrei Khekalo, told news agency AFP that she had missed a training session in January and was later diagnosed with epilepsy, leading her to quit the sport. Ever since then, she was said to have been suffering from depression.
