In a shocking incident, a man from Bihar, Bhagalpur district had a bet on his wife while gambling with his friends. When he had lost the bet, he left and allowed his friends to rape her. Later, he threw acid on her, calling it “purification”.
According to the report, the man is identified as Sonu Harijan. He lost the bet a month ago and due to his “commitment”, he allowed his friends to rape her.
After she had burns because of the acid, her in-laws kept her on house arrest while treating her with home remedies. The incident came to light when the woman managed to escape the house and reached her parents’ place.
The family immediately filed a complaint in Mozahidpur Police Station. Rajesh Kumar Jha, SHO of Mozahidpur police station, said that the accused husband was arrested and an FIR was registered against him on Sunday evening.
“Due to the sensitivity of the incident, we have immediately registered an FIR and arrested the accused. Further investigation is underway and other accused will be arrested if they are found to be involved in this case,” Jha said.
“We are studying the statement of the victim and have arrested the accused. He has confessed that he lost his wife in a gambling bet and also forced her to have sexual relations with his gambler friends,” Jha added.
