Pant has to be in the middle order: Ricky Ponting | IND vs AUS

Former Australian skipper Ricky Ponting feels that India will be under lot of pressure after Adelaide Test loss and said that there is a possibility of clean sweep by the hosts as well.

Talking to https://t.co/gKNhuUa8hy, he said that we will learn a lot about other cricketers in the absence of Virat Kohli.

“We’ll learn a lot about them, won’t we? With Kohli not being there as well there’s almost no one to pick them back up after a loss like that,” Ponting said.

He added that India must bring Rishabh Pant in the middle-order to strengthen the batting.

“They’ve got to make a couple of changes. Rishabh Pant has to be in that middle order. With Kohli not being there they’ve got to strengthen their batting, he’s got to come in,” he said.

“They’ll look at Prithvi Shaw at the top of the order I’m sure but there’s one thing to make selection changes there’s another to lift the spirits back up again and make sure they’re mentally right for the next challenge because the Australians are not going to go away now…Now that they’ve got a bit of a sniff they’re going to go even harder next game,” he concluded.

India got out for just 36 in the 2nd innings of the first Test at Adelaide which Australia went on to win with ease.

To add more trouble, India will be missing out a few of the key players in the team including Virat Kohli who will return home for the birth of his child.

Indian pacer Mohammad Shami who has fractured his hand is ruled out of the series as well.
