After a successful ODI series win, India began their T20I series on a positive start as they go 1-0 up against hosts Sri Lanka.
Batting first, Prithvi Shaw got out for a duck on his debut but Shikhar Dhawan made sure to put that behind and added 46 from 36 deliveries. He had support from Sanju Samson who made 27.
However, India’s best performance came from Suryakumar Yadav once again. The batter began well and added five fours and a couple of sixes for his 50.
With a few runs from lower middle order, India managed to reach 164 in their 20 overs.
In return, Avishka Fernando couldn’t convert his start as he got out for 26. With his wicket, fell the batting order. Asalanka, who was the lone warrior at one end, made 44 from 26. That wasn’t enough as Bhuvneshwar Kumar ran through the batting order in the end to grab four wickets.
The hosts fell 38 runs short of the total as India went 1-0 up in the three-match series.
